Full Time
Senior Manager/Supervisor
Vice President, Training

Smith Engineering is seeking a Vice President, Training to build out and scale up our Training function. This is a unique opportunity to build a critical function at a scaling Engineering organization with the resources of an established company without the bureaucracy of a large firm.

Our vision is to create a sustainable future by improving operations and increasing efficiency in critical facilities.  We provide customized Workforce Training to educate building operations staff, enabling them to identify opportunities for energy efficiency and operational improvements.

Your Role:

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be a key player in managing our training program, ensuring its successful and systematic execution. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will manage all aspects of the training program, from project handoff to client and instructor coordination, and performance tracking.

We are searching for a strategic and detail-oriented professional, who will ensure our training deliveries maintain their best-in-class reputation while building the systems and team for future growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Program Management & Execution: Manage the handoff of closed deals from the sales team and ensure systematic delivery of training programs, following structured task processes.
  • Client & Project Oversight: Serve as the primary client interface, handling scheduling, logistics, and location coordination for training sessions.
  • Instructor Coordination: Manage instructor assignments, performance, and feedback to ensure high-quality training delivery.
  • Metrics & Performance Tracking: Track and report on key training metrics, including gross margins, instructor scores, revenue retention, and customer satisfaction surveys.
  • Team & System Development: Begin to build out a new team and establish scalable systems for the training delivery function.

Qualifications:

We are seeking a mid-career professional with a background in event or program coordination involving complex, multi-component projects.  You must be willing to roll up your sleeves and function as a department of one as you scale your team over time.  You are a strong communicator who can work effectively with clients, instructors, and internal teams and possess:
  • 10+ experience with training program management and delivery.
  • Proven ability in client-facing roles, with strong customer service and "soft sales" skills.
  • Strong account management skills, including an ability to manage large annual revenue or training budgets
  • A detail-oriented and structured thinker with demonstrable experience creating and following systematic processes.
  • Experience tracking training metrics and analyzing performance data.
  • Eager to contribute in a fast paced, small team environment with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred, a degree in instructional design or adult education a plus.
  • Management and leadership experience strongly desired
Benefits:
  • 100% employer-paid medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
  • Fertility, adoption, and surrogacy reimbursements.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Medical flexible spending account (FSA).
  • Transit and parking accounts.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Flexible Paid Time Off.
